Whilst walking the dog I decided to pop into The Mayflower pub for swift pint. It was my first visit and pleased to discover a dog friendly pub with equally friendly staff & locals. A great selection of well kept fine ales. The first time, but certainly not my last. Well recommended.
Had two great nights here tasting the various splendid real ales on draft amongst them beer from Mauldons and Camden. All the beers were really well kept. We ate here both nights too and the food was good too. The place has a great atmosphere and the staff and manageress were first rate. I even left my jacket behind and two days later it was still there…..a honest boozer!
It was a lovely sunny day so we ordered takeaway from the window. Sausage and chips plus ice creams. Everything was fine. All their seating areas were in the shade so we sat in a nice open area a few yards to the right as you look at the window.
Not a bad fish and chips at all. One of the more reasonably priced places in Leigh-on-Sea - £15.50 for plaice and chips.
Traditional no-frills pub with tasty fish & chips and friendly approachable service. The name is tied to the Mayflower, the ship in which the Pilgrim Fathers made their voyage to America, which was either built or owned in Leigh. One wall lists the names of all who sailed on the Mayflower. The pub sits at the rear of the Mayflower Fish & Chips and soft scoop ice cream parlor. The interior feels cozy due to the low ceiling and views of the Thames estuary. The outside area is cramped and not inviting. The haddock and chips (£16.50) were perfectly cooked - crispy, flakey, juicy and lightly seasoned. .
