About us

Dating from before Napoleonic times, this pub claims to be the oldest licensed premises in town. The lively and welcoming slate-flagged public bar provides pub games - darts and dominoes are played - whilst regular entertainment includes a quiz night on Tuesdays, Trigg Morris on Thursdays, and a folk night Fridays when the local folk club meet. The recently-extended lounge is quieter and preferred by locals seeking a more relaxed pint, whilst a function room is also available. There are always one or two interesting guest ales served in this friendly pub, with the emphasis on local breweries. It is on the edge of the town centre and slightly too far out for the pub crawl 'circuit'. The pub is near the Camel Trail.

Great food and service. Live music there is always a good night. The Sunday roast is fantastic and the beer garden in the summer is lovely.

Very friendly local. Has a separate snug bar. You can eat in the main bar areas or in the restaurant room at the back which overlooks the garden. Lots of outside space at the back which is great in summer, some covered seating in case of rain. Some parking at the rear. Monthly live music on a Saturday. Good plentiful food, great fish and chips.

Today me and the wife went to the Masons Arms in Bodmin, lovely pub, looks tiny from the front but is way bigger than you think. Lounge bar, bar, restaurant area and covered beer garden. We had fish and chips which is on a special on Fridays, couple of beers and cokes. The food was great, big chunky chips and well battered fish. The drink was good and Mo the lovely lady who was serving is an absolute delight. All in all great food, great staff and good drinks. Give it a go

This place is a Tardis fronted by one of the most welcoming ladies I’ve come across in a pub - it’s great inside, old, cool and nicely decorated. Good menu and my word the fish and chips we all had was amazing. Walk through the pub and you’ll find a big dining room with a massive window looking out across the bear garden and across to the hills and old jail. Great selection of beers and the table we had was brilliant. We were the only ones outside so maybe we’ve uncovered a hidden gem or just beat the mad rush I’d expect for a place offering this food, service and those views! My only regret was I started eating before picturing the fab food, but it looked and smelled that good, I reckon you’ll all forgive me when you go try it for yourselves! Brilliant!
