Fabulous meal tonight at the Marquis, I had the duck which was delicious 😋 and my husband had the gammon which he really enjoyed, large portions to, dessert afterwards cheesecake was lovely, staff were attentive and the atmosphere was very welcoming, would definitely recommend and visit again x
I found that the staff from day one were amazing there is nothing that was too much trouble and made my mum’s final journey. Joyful. They created a memory table for my mum and insured that there was tea and coffee available as well as a beautiful buffet, with a nice balance of vegetarian and meat, lovers. They allowed us to use the TV with our laptop so we could show our mums photos and videos. They went above and beyond by taking all the Halloween decorations down as it would not of been appropriate. The communication was brilliant from the initial contact to the end, I’d like to thank the team making a special day, allowing us to relax and listen to all of memories about my mum.
visited wed evening, first time iv visited, if im being honest service was a little hectic , staff bit rushed , no starters which i was disappointed about but the main was really good hopefully i will get to try the starters next time , lovely home cooked food, excellent portions, and welcoming staff will try again 😊
Visited this pub as had been in area. Did search for pubs near me for somewhere to eat on way home to Cheshire. Reviews were great so thought we would give it a bash, so glad we did! The pub itself is a traditional pub, not a plastic pub with no charm. The staff are welcoming as soon as you enter and very attentive throughout. We were seated and given menus, and asked if we would like drinks, which arrived promptly. It was fairly quiet, people drinking outside in pleasant courtyard, a few tables eating and some tables waiting for food. Our food was ordered, I had the steak and Stilton pie which was huge with home cooked chips and peas, it was delicious 😋 Husband had the chicken schnitzel which was huge and beautifully cooked, melted in your mouth. Food came quickly too. Didn’t really have room for dessert but forced ourselves. Chocolate brownie and sticky toffee pudding, again prompt service and delicious. The thing I find amazing is the price, so cheap, it’s getting so expensive to eat out these days, not here! Great value for money, drinks too, came home with full tummies and plenty of change in our pockets. If this pub wasn’t so far from home I would visit it more often. Hats off to the chef and wonderful team, lovely friendly pub 10/10, definitely worth a visit.
Great atmosphere, welcoming & friendly. We went as a large group, the food was served smoothly & hot!... The bar was hoping with friendly banter, just how overseas visitors think a British pub is. .who needs a fake Irish bar! come & grab a bit of real Stokie, you won't be disappointed....

The site the Greyhound sits on was originally built as a Yeoman's House in 1540. It became a Manorial Court House with its own cells in 1558. It was extended in 1704 to what you see today.

Lively, two-roomed roadside pub, with a good base of local clientele creating a bustling atmosphere. Small beer garden at the rear, with a heated area for smokers
