Had food here with good friends last night 20/01/24. 16 of us and they managed us with a lovely smile. Been before and will definitely go back.👌
Stayed for 10 days in early September and again early October for another 4 nights while travelling from Australia visiting family in the area. All interactions with the hotel prior to arriving were handled with great customer service and once there the service was just as good. All staff were very approachable and were more than happy to help with any questions or concerns we had. Notes on hotel: * Vicki and all staff we had interactions with were great * We stayed in a suite (Warrior) and it was lovely and comfortable. * Understand that the hotel was built in 1900 so may not have some modern facilities ie no lift to upper floors or separate shower (shower is a handheld shower tap but does the job!) * As mentioned there is no lift to the upper floors so be prepared to climb the few flights of stairs (especially if you are in the suites on the upper floors). By the end of our stay we can definitely say we were fitter than on checking in :) * We had breakfast included. Some mornings it was table service other times buffet. Food was always good. * We had a carvery which was nice, and dinner a few evenings (only one we were disappointed with) but otherwise enjoyable. Overall, our stay at the Marine Hotel was lovely and would definitely stay there again when back in the UK. :)
Great location, old pub building which can creak when walking over. Breakfast is decent selection to choose from traditional English breakfast options. Would do great to have some fruits etc as options too.
We stayed on September 23rd for one night. It is a wonderful hotel. Very beautiful and perfectly placed on the coast. The staff are extremely friendly, and the rooms are clean and inviting. As Americans visiting for just the night, we find it hard to leave the next morning, as we want to explore the town and walk the streets full of charming local restaurants, arcades, and pubs.
Had the carvery twice now and whilst it’s not the best we’ve had it is convenient for us to walk to with our dog and he can now come in with us when he couldn’t previously. The one let down in the marine hotel is the awful service provided by the ginger haired boy with glasses behind the bar, we are so sorry for the other members of staff who work incredibly hard whilst he does the very least he can. The food and portions are good but the gravy is tasteless. The chef needs a bell as people do wait at the carvery for service as did we so we asked a member of staff to call him and when he came out he treated us like he was doing us a favour. I don’t know where people get their ideas that the marine is expensive because it certainly isn’t at £10.99 for the carvery !! We will be back 👍🏻
