About us

The Lytton Arms, situated in the picturesque village of Old Knebworth, north Hertfordshire, and adjoining the historical Knebworth Estate, has entered its next chapter and after sympathetic refurbishment in keeping with the pub’s significant Lytton family history keeping to the original character of the building, is open again for business with a new lease of life.

The Lytton Arms an iconic real ale pub full of nostalgia is now in the tenure of Anglian Country Inns www.acinns.co.uk a local family-run hospitality business.

This much loved 'watering hole' of years gone past and at the hub of the community is now restored to its former glory keeping all the facets of its wonderful history in tact. Focusing on quality, wholesome rustic menu created from local produce, a 10 hand pull range of beers and a fabulously quirky beer garden to the rear of the pub, over-looking the open countryside complimenting the views across Knebworth Estate.

We are now open with a warm welcome to all.

Just had our Evening Christmas Dinner with extended family. Easy to book, way above average food and service. Would recommend for both food and drinks. Thanks to all who worked at Lytton Arms for a great evening and meeting the dietary needs of some of the guests.

Recently visited for the first time, although a small pub/restaurant plenty of atmosphere and a very intimate place to go. The day we visited they were short on staff and could see it was a busy day but handled our dining experience well thankfully we had pre-booked staff were friendly and the food was great! Will visit again.

Now im not usually a pub person however the lytton arms is my FAV pub in the world. Always greeted with a warm welcome and a bonus they are dog friendly (delphi is a VIP!) . Had the roast today and was one of the best roasts Ive ever had. Now the apple and pear crumble...i like a good ratio of crumble to fruit (at least 60/40 crumble loool) Ray the new landlord entertained my lunacy when requesting for this and honestly it is THE best crumble I have EVER eaten...i nearly cried! 🤣 ❤️ the list could go on with the amazing food...the truffle fries, the triple cooked chips, the burger! 😍

Nice pub with good staff and a nice atmosphere. Must say though unfortunately the food didn't live up to expectations. Steak and ale pie was small and a touch dry, had it been microwaved? Chicken was chewy, again possible microwave job. Mrs enjoyed her chicken burger so its not all bad news. Reasonable prices but really could be better.

Wonderful Sunday roast with beautifully cooked meats. The choice was versatile with lots of options for both vegetarians and vegans too which was nice to see. The starters and desserts were delicious too and I couldn't fault them! The loss of the star is simply because we were waiting quite a long time after finishing courses for clean up and ordering from our attendant. We ended up using the app for food but the function for drinks wasn't available in the end so had to try and flag someone down. If you're not in a hurry the food and atmosphere is well worth the wait! Priced reasonably for the area and the staff are friendly if a bit slow (I will note bar staff were very fast with drinks and serving however, once we were able to get orders in).
