I was at Lucky 7 (7 Saints) in Kilmarnock for lunch. Inside the decor is nice, there is a nice casual atmosphere and it strikes me as a well run gastropub. We were in at half 12 and it was pretty quiet but fair got busy prior to us leaving. I ordered the time limited "Inferno" Tray that was advertised on Facebook and my wife had the Beef Chili Burrito and Cheesy fries. I had a chocolate shake and a pint of cola she had a fanta, all in all the price was a modest £23. The chocolate shake was quite disappointing but I enjoyed the quirkiness that it was served in a repurposed pint milk bottle. The "Inferno" tray was tasty but it was hardly spicy, the hot sauce was vinegary to start and then quite fruity with heat. The jalapeño poppers lived up to the "hot" tag as the cheese within was roasting! I really enjoyed the tray but the chicken burger was just missing something but I'm not sure what it was. The Beef Chili Burrito was lovely, tasted very nice and was very filling as were the cheesy fries. Portion wise the tray isn't as big as you may expect but there is no empty space, it is packed with food. Both the wife and I walked away feeling satisfied with the food, portion and price.

I love 7 Saints. Sister venue to the one in Prestwick with a bit more room and a bit more on the menu with the addition of street food and sharer bowls. So all the usual great burgers with topped off chips and a fantastic selection of cocktails, beers and spirits. Get yourself down.

Went in last Friday to see what the fuss was about, I mean, a place that wasn't even open had over 10k likes on Facebook must be special, or something like that. Anyways, just after 8pm, place was reasonably busy, but got a table no bother. Ordered food at the bar, 2 bacon and cheese burgers, order of fries and onion rings - £21, pricey, but I'm expecting great things. We sat and enjoyed a drink while waiting on the food, half an hour came and went and made us stays looking at the kitchen to see what was going on. The kitchen staff seemed low on speed, enthusiasm and efficiency - to say the least. There wasn't much food coming out and they were just standing around looking morose. Food was sitting at the pass for quite a while too, no idea why, but the server and kitchen staff were bickering. After 50 long minutes without explanation, our food arrived. Unfortunately it wasn't worth the wait. The bun and contents weren't the hottest, the bacon undercooked and fatty, fries tepid etc. I was underwhelmed. The place had quietened down a lot by the time we were done eating, possibly down to the 'DJ' whose tunes were a bit on the loud side for that time of night. Place wasn't warm. Style over substance I'm afraid. If you really want a great burger in Killie, go to Aces Diner.
