In a crowded field of pubs near the Temple, the Edgar Wallace has the best atmosphere and a good range of decent value ales and lagers. The owner/manager is a really nice man who is almost always there and often having a drink himself. The pub has an iconic old school look, which I hope never changes. It also has an interesting history that you can read on a sign outside the pub (no spoilers!) You can easily spend a whole evening here catching up with friends in one of the pub's little nooks and crannies. Warning: it can get very busy on a Thursday or Friday.

Can't rate the food because we only had beer, which was in very good condition and served with a smile. Nice warm atmosphere 👌

I didn't eat here having come from lunch at a restaurant nearby so I can't rate the food this time (but I did come here for a work Christmas lunch years ago & the meal was great at that time). Very unusual pub, cavernous and airy with walls and even the ceilings plastered with beer mats and tobacco/cigarette posters from bygone times. Pub not crowded at all in the late afternoon and service was prompt.

I was visiting London from NS, Canada, and I stayed in the building right next door to the Edgar Wallace the week of September 18th. (above the Devereux)...One evening around 9:30pm, I poked my head in the door just to see if their kitchen was still open. A kind gentleman said it was not but what would I want to eat? They could maybe get me something. It was so kind of him to ask. It turns out he and his wife own the pub. I ended up just sitting with them for a pint and chatting about Nova Scotia and London. I was so glad to have met up with them and always chatted and waved on my way by the rest of the week. It was usually always busy midday and after work! Although I didn’t even catch their names, this is such a great memory for me of London. I spent my last evening having a couple pints and chatting with some of their local regulars. Cheers my friends! You gave me a wonderful, welcoming experience in your area of London!

An eclectic little oasis just south of Fleet Street. Warm friendly service. Plenty of keg beers on offer and a couple of cask ales running. The walls are covered in huge numbers of beer mats and other souvenirs of bygone days. A couple of extraordinary person sized doll soldiers guarding the bar, worth a visit for this alone. A lovely addition to this wonderful part of London.
