About us

Two big screens and 2 smaller TVs show all the major sporting events. The Spread Eagle is a great example of a late-Victorian town centre pub and still has its original iron canopy above the entrance, plus wood panelling and etched glasswork inside.

Incredible service, lovely atmosphere and good food. Went here with my partner and in laws for a Sunday lunch and was really impressed. Our server, (annoyingly didn’t get his name but was a young guy) was so lovely and attentive, it really makes a difference. Roast was great. Oh and they’re dog friendly! Will be returning.

We enjoyed our Christmas lunch with our dog. Staff and guests were all so friendly to us and our dog. The Victorian building was outstanding and the interior was just so beautiful. The food was lovely too, thank you for making the day so special.

Sunday roast was superb, pork was perfectly cooked and the trimmings were just as good! Carrots were really nice and seemed to be cooked in honey! A little saddened by the roast potatoes (obviously the best part of any roast) as they were a bit undercooked and chewy, so a little let down there, also the food arrived warm but went cold quickly. But otherwise, really enjoyed the meal! Staff were super helpful and informative, told us how the process worked, quick to bring sauces and spices on request. Bar staff had good vibes and energy. We didn’t book a table and the restaurant area where we were sat didn’t have heating, although we were informed of this when coming in, it was a little too bitter to bare and I ended up keeping my coat on. Better to book in advance!
