About us

The former Methodist chapel, forming the front of these premises, was built in 1900. In 1977, the disused chapel, with its high octagonal ceiling, was taken over by the Half Moon Theatre Company, opening with a production of Robert Tressell’s The Ragged-Trousered Philanthropists. In 1985, the theatre expanded into a derelict site next door, yet closed in 1990. Several years later, it was converted into The Half Moon.

Great place to relax in a calm chilled environment for breakfast with free WiFi. Staff are good respectful and polite and quick to sort out any issues that might occur in my experience. Food is good, right now there's a breakfast going for £1.99 which you couldn't get cheaper anywhere else, and refills on coffee and tea all day long for £1, usually an older crowd in the morning so it's very chilled. For under £10 had 3 small breakfasts coffee and a cider afterwards so excellent value for money. Also the fish and chips with peas I recommend. Overall excellent service at the half moon

Situated a short walk from Stepney Green Station, this former theatre has been transformed carefully into a chic drinking establishment under the wetherspoon flag offering food and broad selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages at affordable prices in a warm and friendly environment.

It needs more space for starters. Customer is a bit weird but they can’t help that. Smoking area is top notch. Safe x

We spent some days in London with our kids and had an apartment in Stepney Green. During such days, we loved to eat at the Half Moon. A nice pub with locals and students, good food and beer for a very good price. Very kind staff and super atmosphere. Highly recommended!

It's a good spoons, overall with a younger crowd likely from Queen Mary university. Service here is very quick despite it being really busy on the weekends. Food is nothing to right home to but perfect to snack on with a couple drinks. The overall atmosphere is busy and chaotic but it is partly because I went on a Friday evening. I would definitely recommend if you want to just hang out after work .
