About us

Under the guidance of Head Chef Troy Cundy we’ve turned The Prince George into a serious destination for foodies. This isn’t just your bog standard pub grub, we’ve mixed things up to produce hearty fare with an inventive twist. Our menu evolves with the seasons and has included dishes such as organic smoked salmon with freshly bakes soda bread, grilled rare hanger steak with potato gratin & grilled gem or beetroot & goats cheese tortellini with almond & rocket pesto. If that doesn’t fill you up then you’ll be pleased to discover that we also offer a veritable feast of a dessert menu, which should appease even the most gluttonous of sweet tooth’s. Featuring dishes such as milk panna cotta with roast rhubarb & shortbread or a warm banana & chocolate with vanilla icecream and butterscotch sauce you’re spoilt for choice.

Perhaps you might like to fit in a little liquid refreshment alongside all of that jaw-dropping food? Oh you do, excellent. We can help you to choose an excellent bottle of red to perfectly compliment that delicious steak you’ve just ordered. Or perhaps you’d rather choose from our selection of white wines to pair with the beer battered hake fillet that’s about to be delivered to your table? Speaking of beer, we have quite the selection, all carefully chosen by our team for their taste and ability to refresh even the most weary of customers. From popular brands to the more niche independent brews, we’ve got it covered.

Amazing atmosphere, lovely terrace for a drink on a sunny day , not quite impressed with the Sunday roast portion are really big and amazing Yorkshire pudding and gravy but meat not the best and potatoes where cold inside. Will definitely give it another try maybe was just bad luck. Overall super friendly stuff.

An authentic traditional pub. Sunday roast was all I expected it to be. We had the lamb and the chicken. Very filling and tasty. Highly recommended.

Early Saturday evening and the place is buzzing and welcoming, all ages, good music, nice ales and cocktails, small enough to be friendly. Got to be a pretty well heeled crowd to have this as your local, but you wouldn’t know it, would be happy to have as mine! #21 #17

We had a roast here last Sunday and it was great. They accommodated my request for a child’s portion as I wasn’t massively hungry which they don’t usually do. It was all great (i had the pork) although the beef was a bit tough on my friends plates. The veggies were great but the potatoes were a tiny bit hard. I think this is due to the set up for Covid (which felt very thorough) as it all came out rather fast we thought maybe they have it already under a heat lamp to ensure quick turnarounds for customers which we were fine with as it was all really yummy still. The gravy was a high point for me. Gravy can make or break a roast and theirs was really rich and lovely. The house wine was good and the staff provided a good service. It has a nice atmosphere with a lot of cute nooks and crannies with wild flowers on the tables. The toilets could do with a spruce up if I had to say anything. Good outside area too
