Mixed Feelings at a Conveniently Located Pub Hotel My family's recent stay at a well-situated pub hotel offered both highlights and disappointments. The location was perfect, especially as I live nearby, making it a convenient choice for their visit. The pub itself is charming, and the anticipation built up from reading positive reviews had us looking forward to an affordable, enjoyable stay. However, our experience was marred by several hygiene issues. The most concerning was the condition of the bedsheets, which were neither fresh nor clean, evident from the presence of hair and stains. This lapse in cleanliness was particularly distressing as my mother, who fell ill and spent a day in the hotel, encountered these issues firsthand. Furthermore, the cleaning service seemed inadequate; despite the cleaner's visit, there was no noticeable vacuuming, and the toilet's hygiene left much to be desired. A bin overflowing with used period products indicated a lack of attention, especially since we were the only guests over the weekend. Under-bed discoveries of dust, a forgotten shoe, and wigs hinted at a deeper neglect in cleaning standards. While the room decor was both nice and original, these hygienic oversights dampened our overall impression. Another downside was the breakfast experience. The fruits were good, but the biscuits didn't sound fresh, and we were expecting more choice like to go downstairs in the pub and eat a proper breakfast, and the lack of chairs in one of the bedrooms meant we had to eat on the bed, which was inconvenient and uncomfortable. In summary, while the pub hotel boasts an excellent location and appealing aesthetics, the hygiene issues and breakfast setup significantly detracted from our experience.

Staff were warm friendly and polite, I was in the BnB and the rooms were really nice. Cool retro/antique decorations, had a tray delivered with fruit and cereal for breakfast, multiple shared bathrooms so you have options. Enjoyed my stay a lot.

Service was excellent, they also went out of their way to make a dish off the menu for our child. Food was really good, chicken was tender. Last dinner before the flight back, and I'm happy with the fish and chips. Thank you

Lovely family owned pub with great outdoor seating for summer and cosy indoor seating for the colder weather. Roasts are excellent with an abundant amount of gravy :) A good selection of board games too. Staff are always friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. Would highly recommend if you're in East London!

A wonderful find for us. Our room was spacious. The pub lively but not over crowded. The service by Ash and Julia at the bar was great. Very attentive to the guests. The food by Chef and manager Michael was delicious. I highly recommend the Big 10 burger. Overall hidden gem of a place.

Every day for our constantly changing seasonal menu, within this relaxed yet bustling and friendly atmosphere, the chef prepares and cooks fresh meals to order. Nothing is bought in and we pride ourselves upon our attention to detail.
We do however have staples that always figure on our menu: Fish and Chips and Rib-eye steak, from 8oz cut and cooked to order on our chargrill. Our other dishes are decided upon on the day, whatever is fresh in the market, comes to The Angel of Bow that day.
Seafood is one of our specialities being a stone’s throw from Billingsgate market, is a great advantage to our kitchen.
Just pop in to try our Seafood Saturdays or our half pint of prawns with lemon mayonnaise
We are unique in that we are returning to the traditions of the East End with oysters: Friday, Saturday and Sundays with freshly shucked Maldons as standard. Buy one or half a dozen the choice is yours.
Our menu can be described as modern British pub food. All our meats are supplied by local purveyors and all other produce is carefully sourced from respected producers, locally sourced wherever possible.

Sunday

We serve our amazing Roasts from 1pm until 6pm

Roast Beef
Slow roast shoulder of Lamb
Half of free range chicken

Our kitchen closes at 6
pm on a Sunday this is to allow our chef sometime off and reopens at 5 pm on Wednesday for Dinner.

And stay for our live after 5
