Local Area

Clifton upon Teme is a beautiful village overlooking the Teme Valley in Worcestershire. Originally an Anglo-Saxon settlement, the village contains many ancient buildings, including St Kenelm’s church and the Lion Inn. Steeped in history and surrounded by wonderful countryside, Clifton upon Teme is a haven for residents and visitors alike. It is a compact village set on high ground bordered by Sapey Brook to the east and the south flowing River Teme. At its heart is the Green with its ancient trees and pump and around which are clustered some of the village’s most noteworthy buildings.

Clifton upon Teme is situated some 9 miles south of Tenbury Wells and 11 miles from Worcester on a bend in the winding, Tenbury to Worcester Road.

Clifton has been fortunate in retaining many of the services that other communities elsewhere have lost: school, bus service, shop, surgery, garage, pubs, recreation ground and church. The post office also remains, although its hours have recently been reduced. There are numerous clubs and organizations, and amenities and support services for all ages; an under 5s nursery, through school and church, tennis club and pony club, gardeners and ramblers to the bowls club and friendship club – there is something for almost every age and interest.

We went for a quick lunch with family and it was lovely. Warm welcome and well looked after throughout. Food was really good pub food - burgers, pies, bangers and mash, and a lovely risotto. Excellent local cider and bitter on tap as well. Would recommend if you're in the area.
