So named because of its close proximity to the site of Countesthorpe Railway Station which fell under the notorious Beeching Axe on New Year’s Day 1962.
A cul-de-sac near the pub is aptly named Beeching's Close and the gardens of the houses on the west side of the close meet with the boundary of the old line. The interior was refurbished in 2017 and consists of: front lounge bar, which appears to be two rooms knocked into one, stretching the full width of the front elevation; and a similar-sized back public bar with skittles table and darts.
