About us

Our doors open at 2 pm weekdays and 12 noon on Saturdays, Sundays and holiday periods.

We have regular quiz and folk nights and other special events. Outside we have extended seating overlooking the Community Garden and fine views of rolling farmland. We think we’ve discovered Billinge’s best suntrap with its own micro climate. We also have an outside smoking shelter complete with wood burning stove - oh and a bison! Daily newspapers and even our own exchange library add to the relaxed atmosphere.

The Masons Arms is Billinge’s gateway to the splendid woodland walks through the Goyt Valley and Carr Mill Dam. Garswood, Crank, Kings Moss and Rainford are all within a few miles radius and ramblers and cyclists are always assured of a warm welcome. A full selection of cask ales, lagers, ciders, wines and hot drinks are always available. Please feel free to bring your own butties for outside eating. Even our canine friends enjoy the fires and readily offered water bowls. We are primarily an ale house true to our roots, so you won’t find lingering smells of fried food and vinegar. However we do cater for various parties by prior arrangement. Burchall’s local famous pork pies are available on Fridays but they are eagerly snapped up so be quick.

Relaxing atmosphere, sunny beer garden, interesting outside shelters and great beer. Plus the show the football and rugby. Food is limited to snacks but you can take in your own.

A hidden gem near to Billinge this pub is a true traditional alehouse. Always a great selection of cask ales being served and the legendary Birchalls pies offered on a Friday. The pub is unspoilt with rugby league memorabilia adorning the walls. The outside area is vast with picturesque views across the fields. The staff are a very friendly and welcoming bunch and the prices reasonable. This pub is dog friendly, walkers and cyclists often call in for refreshments. Overall this pub is well worth a visit 10/10

Fantastic village local. Lovely bar area with a good selection of ale. Friendly locals and helpful behind the bar too. Popular with walkers and dog friendly. Memorabilia relating to St Helens rugby and the local area on display.Lovely beer garden with two sheltered lodges one has a wood burner. It’s not on the main road but it’s well worth finding. Very highly recommended 5 star pub. 🍻 🍺 🐶 🔥

Lovely friendly pub with a real countryside feel. Friendly staff and a great selection of drinks, including real ales and IPAs. A pub fire to die for, very cosy in the winter. No food served, but you can get pork pies on Fridays which are very tasty. Fantastic place.
