The Black Horse Inn is the oldest public house in Lancashire and is stated to be the second oldest in the country, stepped in history and legends we offer a warm welcome and a friendly homely atmosphere .
We are striving to make the Black Horse Inn a place where quality and hospitality meet a warm welcome, as well as our street food menu items we offer for you to enjoy our traditional and craft ales beers wines and spirits. We serve quality, fleshly prepared street mexican inspired dirty food done with a flare, We only use fresh local produce which we try and source within a six mile radius of the pub and only the best ingredients are used.
One of the oldest pubs in Lancashire, the cellar dates back to the year 996! Anyway food was great, beers high quality π Tried the black horse burger...very tasty π
We went here today and the food was lovely! Yes the decor is a bit run down, but itβs an old pub!! Staff were lovely and they gave our dogs sausages, which was so nice of them! Would definitely come back
We came here on Sunday 29/10/23 this was the opening night for new menu, new staff and new management. We were VERY impressed. The food was superb and although it was evident the staff were very new and nervous, they were so polite and attentive it made our meal an even more pleasurable experience. I would highly recommend a visit to the Black Horse at Limbrick.
Really nice little place just outside of Chorley. Staff were lovely, really friendly and allowed us to park overnight in the car park. The car park is quite small and half of it is on quite a steep slope of you're looking to park overnight. Free if you buy food/drink. Not suitable for large motorhomes. Reasonably priced food. We had a roast dinner which was quite nice although no stuffing and the chocolate brownie was a bit burnt. For the price and the atmosphere though I can't complain too much. It was a nice place to be and I'd visit again :)
I would give the Black Horse 3.5 stars, the location and the proprietors are nice, though I think the place could do with a revamp. The old dark painted furniture and stone flooring is certainly in keeping with it's reputed 1000 year old history, but it's missing pictures and photos that I would have loved to have seen on the walls, showing the pub throughout it's impressively long and presumably colourful past. Personally I would like to see the dark paint on the seats stripped back to natural wood, both to enhance the seating area and brighten the ambience of the place. The set menus are very traditional (more of a vegan / vegetarian/ meat mix would be a suggestion), though I appreciated the creative specials that were on offer that day.
