Well let me start of clean and clear, I traveled here in hopes of a nice cheerful roast dinner, but no❌ what did I get? Something that looks like it had came from the deep depths of Blackbeards scraggly beard. The scenery was nice and quite fitting, if you was waiting in a dentist! There was no atmosphere and it felt like I was gonna get my teeth pulled out which is what I wanted to do when I chewed on the meat, trust me I was chewing for days on end after my visit, legend has it some customers are still chewing to this day, Stephan strong-jaw arrived one day to to challenge the beast of a meat, oh and trust me, but he soon realised after taken a bite that what he had gotten himself into was the worst case scenario he could have gotten himself into and he’s the strong jaw champion of the universe and planet jaw, but soon met his match after meeting what might as well had been his grandads 100 year old Victorian rotten crusty steel capped leather boot on his plate. And then, moving on from Stephan strong-jaw came firm sniffed Margaret with a nose so powerful that was undefeated by any stench for years on end she once even whiffed up a whole sewer system and didn’t make a face at all, but as soon as she stepped foot in the castle, her nose shrivelled up into ashes and blew away out of the window. To wrap up this review I asked Gordon Ramsey his thoughts on making a kitchen nightmares episode here, but when he arrived he stood outside arms crossed ready to face the restaurant of doom, and saw Stephen strong-jaw walk out with no jaw and firm-sniffed Margaret walk out with no nose, he turned round at the speed at light but the ashes from firm-sniffed Margaret’s nose got in his and the camera crews car engines and and they all broke down, so he never even thought of going anywhere near this place again….

Warm and friendly welcome. Room adequate for a short break. Bathroom very tired. Breakfast was an additional cost but freshly cooked and the bread/toast was great. Evening meals from a limited menu was again freshly cooked and tasty. Bar staff, especially Karri were great and very helpful. Parking in the village sparse.

Located in a lovely village staff, pleasant & friendly. The owners are in process of making improvements to the inn, its an old building which does require quite a bit updating. Room was large, clean, bed comfy. The only downfall was the maceration system which disturbed our sleep as could hear the noise from neighbouring rooms going overnight & early morning. The shower also didn't get warm enough for us. A few extra hangers in the room would be helpful. Food we had on arrival was tasty, although portion sizes we felt were pretty small for the price. We didn't have breakfast as this had to be ordered the day before & we weren't sure. Small carpark across the road &le street parking. Pretty location and worth a visit. PS the staff will recommend a local taxi service which we would not recommend.

Popped in on an impromptu visit as driving past the beer garden just looked quaint and like it would be a lovely place to read my book. I was given a really warm welcome, the team answered all my questions regarding food, I only had the pork bites but they were delicious,(served with just the right amount of apple sauce.) Hadn't tasted the draft fruit cider before,so had that, it was actually one of the nicest ciders I've had. I will definitely be back when I'm in the area (probably for a family day out at Brockhill Country Park.) Guests were checking in to the hotel as I was eating. Again, the team were so welcoming. I didn't see the rooms, but I think when the service shines like it did, they can't be bad at all.
