About us

Dark wooden floors and subdued lighting give this pub a warm and comfortable atmosphere, complemented by the nautical theme. The stove, in the carpeted lounge, is welcome in winter.

A wide variety of drinkers, from young to old, enjoy the good range of beers dispensed from the five handpumps, including beers from Ramsgate and Dark Star.

The pub has a small cosy rear bar overlooking a large patio garden accessed by a staircase. The covered smoking area has a clock large enough for you to have no excuse for missing last orders! Please note that electronic cigarettes are not allowed in the pub.

Dog chews can be purchased, with the monies raised being donated to charity.

Nice old fashioned boozer, a limited choice of interesting beers, there was lot of local real ales (Gadds on offer), which is good but no craft ale offering, shame when Time & Tide is so good and very local

Brilliant old pub ! we always visit when in Deal. Amazing prices, lovely staff, great atmosphere and good music playing and we always have a good time talking to locals and visitors alike. Whenever we visit somewhere we always want to respect the locals, it's their turf so it is a pity when big groups of visitors take over and lose the plot a bit. Manners cost nothing. Be kind and everyone can enjoy this historic watering hole!

Proper old back street pub. Great atmosphere, excellent service and choice of ales. Such a nice change from the lager dominated generic pubs that dominate most areas. The Ship is an oasis in the sea of dross that is the majority of pubs today.

Lovely old pub with reasonable prices and a friendly clientele. Really enjoyed our trip to this historic pub. Not only is it beautiful and full of character, but the drinks are priced well (it came to about 15 quid for two double g & ts and a pint of beer. It’s a small to medium sized pub with and open layout. Also liked that it was more focused on locals than the tourist trade.

Where to start. Proper lovely real old school pub. Great selection of beers ,ales , spirits wines ect. Dog friendly. I was drinking an lovely ale called number 7 and it was priced at omg £2.60 a pint. Amazing prices and real value for money. The bar staff ( Helen) very lovely and warm and welcoming. Made me and my partner feel at home. The pub has lots of lovely historical features and been kept perfectly in keeping with how it should be retaining all its amazing features. Very nice beer garden also. If you want to go to a real pub with very affordable prices then this should not be missed. 10 out of 10
