What a wonderful restaurant! By far the best Indian food I ever had, and the attention to details is fantastic! Despite being busy in the kitchen, the Chef finds time to check on the tables and make sure everything is well! Greatly recommended experience!!! Very dynamic and engaging business model!! Well done!

Visited mid week for the 6 course tasting menu. The restaurant was buzzing as it was a Thursday night, where bottomless Thali is served (which I will be returning for!). We arrived earlier than our booking but we're seated and attended to straight away, with a welcome cocktail. I would highly recommend the tasting menu, the selection and order of service was absolutely on point. The most notable dish for me being the lamb, I've honestly never had lamb cooked like it (and I'm the daughter of a sheep farmer!!). It is obvious that ingredients are locally sourced where possible and I understand that fish is purchased fresh each day from the Goods Shed, so another huge well done to the Cooks Tale for supporting other local businesses. The ambience was perfect and the live pianist really lifted the experience. I was particularly impressed with one male waiter, a younger man who was so knowledgeable about the menu and a real credit to the restaurant (I wish I got his name!). Thanks a million, we will be back for sure!

We went for the 12 course tasting menu and let me start by saying the food is exceptional. I 100% recommend eating here. The atmosphere is great with a Piano player playing most of the night setting a very romantic scene (We went on a Saturday). The only improvements I would suggest are the decor in the area we were sat was a little run down and the toilets were on par with a generic spoons toilet.

We tried The Cook’s Tale yesterday for the Sunday lunch. WOW it was absolutely delicious. We had the shared chicken and the single lamb dish and shared between 4 and there was plenty. Spice was just right. Dev the chef presented us with our dinner and we were able to chat with him which was a nice touch. Complimentary pea and artichoke soup with naan bread and we asked to the chocolate deserts to take home. I will definitely be returning next time I am in the area. Thank you.

Fantastic Indian. Unexpected find in Canterbury of all places. I eat a lot of Indian food (Central London, Tooting, Southall, Delhi) but this was possibly the best I had. Great taste, classy atmosphere, excellent service. Prices are probably medium/high for Canterbury, but more than justified by the food quality. Highly recommended and worth a journey to Canterbury on its own. We had the vegetarian starter, the Thali and the king prawns. All excellent.
