The hotel accommodation at the family run Jolly Brewers Freehouse Inn, is just outside Bishops Stortford town centre and is within easy walking distance of the train station, shops, leisure centre, river, and the town's night life, whilst being in a much quieter location. It is within ten minutes drive of Stansted Airport but is not bothered by the flight path.
Check in was easy and room was an okay size for the price. Generator/water heater beside the room could be heard at night time. Lights outside window shone in on the bed no matter what way the blinds were. Beds were pretty uncomfortable and shower temperature dipped constantly. Staff weren't for helpful or accommodating when asked about late check out even though it was quite early.
Now this is what a proper English pub looks like. Happy locals, happy staff, very happy travellers. Our room was clean, secure and lovely. Thank you for making our stopover brilliant. The Canadian Liverpudlian who enjoys Timothy Landlord. Many thanks to our host.
Absolutely amazing place , just spent 3 nights there and loved it . Clean , reasonably priced . Friendly staff that told me if I needed anymore supplies to go in the pub Nice little touch of samples of shower gel/ soap, lots of fluffy white towels, extra pillows and bottles of water Would highly recommend
The Jolly Brewers Pub does not prepare food, but good beer from the local brewery can be enjoyed here. There is a small hotel here that offers basic service for a small price.
This pub is where locals go for drinks regularly and they have the option of booking a room to stay the night if you need. The host is extremely welcoming and helpful.
