Our historic inn oozes charm, with it’s coastal location perfect for the sailing community you will want to come back to visit us time and time again.
The New Inn is located in the classic, picturesque English village of Shalfleet in the west of the Isle of Wight between the county town of Newport and the famous seafaring town of Yarmouth. Situated close enough to the Wightlink ferry terminal in Yarmouth to make a visit to us a day trip from the mainland, the New Inn is a perfect first stop for quality dining after arriving on the ferry. Our food is strongly influenced by the amazing produce from our island including fantastic cheese, meat, game and of course fish and shellfish. We are also proud to serve locally made drinks from wonderful ales through to island distilled gins and vodka.
We’d last visited this pub in Sep 10, but hadn’t been made to feel very welcome by the then landlord and team, so we’d never returned. However, after reading a recent Facebook post, we thought we’d give the new team a chance and book Sunday lunch. What a difference. Welcoming and engaging staff, super food and a lovely atmosphere. I had the “mixed meat roast” and it was probably the best Sunday roast I’ve had in a pub in a long time. Keep it up everyone 👏👏👏 We will be back 😊
This is definitely one of the best places we have eaten on the island. We had the lamb hotpot with a selection of vegetable which tasted homecooked with lots of flavour and the vegetables were cooked to perfection. A choice of 3 great ales and very helpful and friendly staff that made us and our little dog Monty feel very welcome. We are a frequent visitor to the island and will certainly be coming back to the new inn again
Absolutely Glorious. Driving Isle Of Wight trying to find proper seafood. By chance stopped here. £21 ? For a fresh large Brown crab. Salad & fries. Tasted fantastic. Presented well not messed about with. Great tasting simple Sea Food. I would highly recommend this pub.
Great food, very tasty and well presented. The sticky toffee pud is divine...yum 😋! Service? Amazing management. I recommend the fish & chips, pint of prawns, crab pate & of course the sticky toffee pudding
Wow what a blinder of a meal!!! I think the best pub meal I've had on the Island. Chef cooks well, local tasty ingredients and will adapt to dietary requirements!! Generous portions for the price and even better 2 log fires to sit by!!!! Looking forward to next trip 👏
