Built during Shakespeare’s time, if the bard were still around, you would find him with the locals in the Howard Arms.

Probably one of the best country pub we went to! Great food and fire. We went for small plates and pudding with tea and coffee after. Nice treat after a muddy walk in Ilmington. The assistant manager was very friendly and professional, definitely worth a visit!
We had the most delicious Sunday lunch here. The vegetables were so fresh and the turkey was perfectly cooked. Starters and desserts were sooo good too! The service was fantastic and a beautiful setting. Would definitely recommend.
I stayed here for one night. Ate dinner and breakfast. The room was large, clean and well decorated. The bathroom modern, well equipped with bath and shower and very clean. I really enjoyed dinner. Everything on the plate was local and seasonal. The flavour and presentation of the food was excellent. I had never had gnocchi made with squash before but, as with all the food it was amazing. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful with fresh produce and great choice of cold and cooked food. The staff were really helpful and friendly. The village location is very attractive. I have already made a mental note to visit again when in the area.
Lovely Roast dinner. The best I have had out in years! tried many pubs and hotels over time. Lovely veg in separate dishes which I like. lovely cauliflower cheese too. ♥️
The food was of very good quality but, given the price, one would hope for a slightly more fine dining experience. A gravy boat with one’s roast would have been much appreciated. It is so much nicer, I feel, to be able to choose, oneself, which elements of one’s meal to cover in gravy. The table, unfortunately, was uncomfortably cramped but the restaurant was obviously busy and there ended up being more people in our party than anticipated so it was very good of the establishment to be able to accommodate us all when we had booked for fewer.
