About us

Long before there was the suburb of Norwood, with its solid Victorian houses, there stood a forest of mighty oaks, the Great North Wood. Even though by the early eighteenth century much of the forest had been cut down for the shipyards of Kent, Daniel Defoe still felt it to be "a country more open and more woody than any other part so near London". At the west flank of this rural idyll stood a Tavern, The Horns, a popular watering hole for both parched traveller and horse. The Horns continues to serve the thirsty customer, though the largest livestock you'll see today is Zorro, the pub cat.

Food

Have you had a hard day at work? Or maybe a hard workout at the gym? Or is it just one of those "don't feel like cooking" days? Why not come down to the horns and treat yourself to a freshly prepared meal from our extensive menu. From sandwiches to light bites, plates to share through to a full slap up meal. To accompany your meal you can choose from the wide range of lagers, ales and real ales we have on tap. We also have a wine list to suit most tastes and a coffee machine that makes a mean cappuccino. At the Horns we cook proper pub food at a price that won't break the bank.

Went to the Horns Tavern last night and there was a great traditional pub atmosphere, the staff couldn't be more friendly, the food was great classic pub grub, and the food and drinks were so affordable!! A gin and tonic, half a guiness and a bottle of beer for £12! Haven't seen that in London for a long time!

One of the last and finest proper pubs in West Norwood. Friendly staff, great atmosphere and amazing prices. Unique experience of finding a whole other pub if you come out of the loo from a different door.

Not many pubs left like this, you get a very authentic pub experience with very reasonably priced drinks and food. We had a great time and found the bar staff very helpful and welcoming.

This pub is by far the worst atmosphere and holds the worst customer service I know ! I came in with three other people to play pool. Bear in mind I have to pay to play considering this pool table is inside their venue I should be accounted as a paying customer as they receive all money I put into the machine right ? Apparently not the man in charge demanded I buy a drink in order to play which I explained I will I am just waiting a while as I am on medication . He then accepted id from us all which was given as a photo from our phones which by law shouldn’t be accepted as only military cards , citizenship cards passports and provisionals are valid under the think 25 act . He aggressively allowed his customers to belittle me and make me feel forced into buying drinks and said all 4 of us HAVE to buy drinks there in order to be welcomed ?! I am contacting their council with video proof I took
