New landlords in here since January 24. Good atmosphere, no full kitchen yet, that will be in a month but I had a lovely Guinness stew with mash. Go and support them. Let's keep our pubs open.
First visit passing through house hunting. Such a nice atmosphere, freezing cold day and lovely to see two log fires on the go and receive a warm welcome. Am not familiar with the area yet but understand they took the pub over 3 weeks ago having been closed 14 months. We wish them well and hope to be back again soon! Their French onion soup (didnt get chance to try due to a large breakfast) looked amazing!
A very nice country pub which started and ended our circular walk. A very warm welcome by the owners and their pub dog. From what I have read this pub has struggled since COVID so I hope the new owners make it a success. The Guinness was very well kept, however the drinks were a little on the expensive side but those are the times we live in. Would love to come back in the summer where they have a lovely secluded garden.
We were really disappointed by our lunch here I get that there were staff shortages but the welcome was unfriendly, and service very slow. We waited over 40 mins for starters that included olives, there was no bread they had run out. The cannelloni became lasagne the chicken was pale and tasteless the fries were soggy, I was overcharged for puddings. Having read good reviews I was really underwhelmed nice setting and interior but there are better pubs within a five mile radius of here.
Beautiful meal in a beautiful setting! Outdoor dining was in a high quality tent which had great atmosphere. Service was perfect, all the staff were really friendly and attentive. Food was definitely the best we’ve had during our stay in South Downs - would recommend the sole and celeriac in particular!
