About us

Welcome to the Greyhound Inn, an idyllic and charming traditional country pub, nestling beneath the beautiful National Trust land of Ashridge Estate, in the Village of Aldbury, near Tring.

Our delightful pub has a traditional feel with extensive dining areas & plenty of nooks and crannies, as well as a lovely outside terrace for those warm spring and summer days. And our comfortable en-suite bedrooms and attached cottage make a great base for exploring the Chiltern Hills and Ridgeway Walk, which finishes at the pub, as well as and the many attractions in the local area, including The National History Museum Tring (Formerly The Walter Rothschild Zoological Museum), Whipsnade Zoo, Harry Potter World and the Roald Dahl Museum.

So the next time you’re in the area, why not pop in and let Tim and the Team treat you to some good old fashioned traditional hospitality!

Just went for lunch....midweek. beautiful village... nice old pub with large bright dining area at the rear. Unusually I think my wife and I were first and second youngest diners that lunchtime ....at 52 and 61.....but food and service all good.

A really lovely pub. Had a triple room. Very clean. Bathroom was very small, but had a shower, so it worked. The food at the pub was very good, especially the breakfast. Tim was really friendly and helpful too, which made the stay even better.

Extremely disappointed. We were looking forward to our family Christmas dinner and when we received the bill the deposit had not been deducted. When we questioned this we were told by management this had not been received. They were completely unaware that in order to reserve a Christmas booking, a deposit needed to be taken- despite this being confirmed by email already. We ordered 1 medium wine and when we received a large this was brought to the waitress's attention. We were then told to leave it and the bill would be adjusted accordingly to a medium as we had originally asked. Regretfully, the bill was not adjusted. When we let them know, we were challenged rather aggressively by the manager who argued that it was what we had ordered. He then 'stormed off' which left us all shocked as we were only explaining what had happened. We remained agreeable and polite throughout which is why this behaviour was so unacceptable. On top of this, the food was terrible and the experience was upsetting. Highly unrecommended.

A lovely Friday night venue for supper with girl friends. Easy to book a table online. We dined in the conservatory which was very Christmassy. Lovely round table for the 8 of us. Nice menu with good quality food. Nice atmosphere and excellent service. Parking outside on the road. Good value for money at £40 each for food and drinks and a tip. There is accommodation here but we did not stay overnight

A great place to eat with a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Tim and his team make you feel welcome and nothing is a problem. Allied to this is the great food, you feel like you could sit there all day, which isn't a bad thing with an excellent choice of beers. Can't wait to get back there
