About us

Taken over in August 2012, Dave Rapson, a superb chef, produces menus to suit all. Sunday Roasts include Sirloin of Beef, Loin of Pork, Leg of Lamb and Succulent Chicken. All served with freshly cooked vegetables and crunchy roast potatoes (from the field next door!), light and crispy Yorkshire puddings and to top the dinner, a gravy fit for Royalty. Our accompanying condiments are also home made as are all the delicious puddings.

4 Real Ales always on Tap, some from local breweries. Coors Light Extra Cold, Grolsch, Carling, Guinness and Stowford Press on draught and are all kept in superb condition.

We welcome families with children and well behaved dogs. We serve children’s, small and large portions.

We have all sorts of board and boxed games to keep you and your children amused, including Giant Jenga, Giant Connect Four and Sjoelbak (Shuffle Board).

Dave and Kath are both fully qualified chefs. Dave organizes the kitchen and Kath fronts the house. We have a 4-star food hygiene rating awarded by the food standards agency.

Excellent menu choices and additionally, an extensive specials board. We went "fishy" and had cracking meals. Monkfish scampi was a new one and enjoyed as was the Red Lion Fish pie - gorgeous. The Ludlow Gold ale was a great accompaniment! Lovely staff and a homely pub atmosphere.

Great pub, really fab Sunday Roast. All ordered and came out quickly. Will definitely return with my daughter next time so as to enjoy the garden area as well. Thank you to all the team, delicious.

Excellent food and great friendly service, so worth driving nearly 600 miles each way to revisit. Many thanks to Kath, Dave and the rest of the red lion team for making us so welcome

Wonderful food and staff. I little pricy compared to our local area, but the quality totally justified it. Quality home cooked food, not your ready to heat pub grub.

Have stopped here 4 or 5 times now, as a couple with 2 dogs. Always welcomed, and will definitely be a regular place for us to go. We stayed in our camper with EHU, not over crowded, plenty of space. The food is absolutely outstanding, with a wide variety of choice, and the Sunday lunch is to die for. We have had the beef teriyaki twice now, aswel as the fish and chips more often! Consistantly gorgeous. The coco prawn starter is amazing! We had lunch also on this 2 day stop over, and the steak baguette is honestly the best baguette I have had! The staff are great too, food, service, cleanliness, all spot on! Thank you for a fab stay everytime! From Steve, Sarah and the doggies :) see you soon!
