Beautiful pub, great views of the countryside from the beer garden. Went for lunch, tasty food and the staff were so friendly and helpful.

Atmosphere: Nice atmosphere with a candle on each table. Dog-friendly. Though the one near us was obscured by a dining table, there are real log fires. Food: I ordered the pie of the day (beef in red wine with puff pastry), which was hot and a little empty (see pic), but the sides were cold. Service: Our waiter, Karen, was friendly and attentive. I mentioned the cold sides to her, and a fresh set of sides were immediately ordered without question. My wife's meal was perfect. If it hadn't been for Karen, I probably wouldn't visit again; however, I am now happy to give it another try.

If you’re looking to pig out and enjoy a dining room away from home, Hare and Hounds is the place for Sunday roast and a desert to follow. Hare and Hounds is also pet friendly pub with a dedicated section at the entrance. For mains we ordered turkey, 2 pork bellies and a trio. The roasted veg was caramelised well, broccoli was crunchy and the meat was succulent. For desert we ordered a honey pot was an edible garden. The banoffee pie was layered like millionaire shortbread and a sticky toffee pudding was as rich as ever. The food and service was second to none, not to mention the staff were full of humour. It came to a total of £107. The male toilets were hygienic, however the female toilets were not as up to standard.

Booked to come here for lunch with friends and their two young kids on a Saturday. The pub itself is very attractive and the countryside views are lovely. The weather was threatening rain, so we sat at a very nice round table indoors. The service was very friendly and attentive but the waiting time, particularly for the kids’ food, was too long. They were very patient but starting to get a little grumpy just before their food finally arrived. They had been given paper and crayons when we arrived, which was a nice touch. The food quality was good but not great. The hot drinks machine wasn’t working but we were only told this when our server came to take our dessert order. Overall, a 3-star review feels about right. With maybe more kitchen staff this could have been better.

We had a great time here. The food was beautiful and the weather was fantastic to sit outside and eat our lunch and take in the fantastic views. It was my husbands birthday and the staff where brilliant brought a cake out for him. Staff all really nice and friendly Highley recommended 👌 also I loved that they had a dog menu
