So... This is extremely hard for me to write.. Over the years I've grown to love the Hatchet (weatherspoons). Having moved from (cough cough) Swindon. Its My wife (last 2 years previously fiance) and i's go to pub. We go most weeks at least once and generally it's quite good. Be it breakfast, lunch or dinner. But. Today was different. The place had a series odour in the main lounge... Of Urine. Strong as you like p!ssy p!ss p!ss. Like a Tramps Pants. If they was left in a toilet and Wee'd on all day sort of smell. We moved. Then moved. Then moved again. By that point we was starving and lunch arrived. Paninis. Various from chicken to cheese. Yum you'd think and so did we. Cold as you like. Like and Eskimo had delivered it straight from his igloo. By this point my wife, My son and me just needed some clean air and grabbed the panini and took it outside to warm up. Will be contacting Mr Spoons and asking for his advice.

Lovely characterful country pub. Have eaten there a few times and the food has always been good. The staff are helpful and friendly. Good service. Would recommend. Have stayed here once a few years back. The room was basic but fine. It's an old building so need to expect uneven floors etc.

Great selections for Sunday lunch (the trout with potatoes for me; butterfly prawns for wife; and lamb/beef roasts for our sons). We booked ahead and even so were informed it would be a little while for food to come out - very good to be let known so we didn't rush our incredible, "grandmother's secret recipe" Hatchet ale (highly recommended). The pub atmosphere was superb - warming wood fire, historic paraphernalia decorations, a funky 2-in-1 picture, ... There is a spacious area outside with pic-nik tables for warmer/dryer days. The very busy staff were forever friendly and welcoming even with the full house. Recommended.

We met friends half way to celebrate our wedding anniversaries. We have visited before. It is a pretty pub in a lovely location. I was so pleased to see trout on the menu - having not seen it anywhere for years. My friend and I enjoyed it and the men loved their pies. The staff are friendly. Good menu.

A very traditional and historic pub. A lovely thatched roof, original beams inside and very beautiful to look at from outside and sit in and enjoy the pub. The drinks are great, a wide selection with good food choices, fast service and lovely staff. Had dinner and breakfast. Portion sizes are very big! Amazing value for money! The room is a double bed size, smart TV, towels and shower gel included Etc.. en-suite bathroom (shower and toilet). It’s unloved from a paint job and it was very dusty and full of cobwebs behind my bed head and the carpets are outdated. - if a deep clean and lick of paint with a carpet change.. This would be 5 out of 5.
