Cosy and compact, a welcoming pub, well worth stopping off for a pint - a stithy is a blacksmith's forge.
In 1821 there were only nine public houses or inns in Ossett and Gawthorpe and these were listed in Baines 1822 Trade Directory of the West Riding. Like all the others the Hammer & Stithy brewed its own ale.
Sunday 5-9pm is Karaoke, Wednesday is pool night, Thursday quiz night with live turns Friday night.
Friendly pub, great atmosphere. Gets very busy on a Friday night for the Karaoke. Fantastic DJ
First visit polite staff very friendly unfortunately funeral party in same day
Called for a drink when walking our little dog and sat outside, very nice atmosphere and was surprised when one of the staff came out with a bowl of water for the dog which I found really thoughtful. Will definitely be visiting again.
Great pub....first time I have visited it. Beer cheaper then other inns in the area. Barmaid and clients really friendly.
Nice people, very welcoming and the manager has people laughing all the way to the bar. Service was quick staff were friendly and the beer was cold and wet just the way it should be. Old Community style of atmosphere but still warm friendly place.
