About us

Now this quintessential village pub has a good reputation for offering quality food and drink along with the many original features such as its wooden ceilings, exposed beams and three open fires, not to mention the well in the restaurant!

The Griffin prides itself on offering a good range of traditional ales, extensive wines and beers. And in the more clement weather a large glass of wine or pint is enjoyed by many in our large Al fresco area where people also enjoy some of our quality seasonal produce. Plus the addition of our large field which is also a great place to play with the kids or just sit back and relax. The field also boasts many events such as our classic car shows, dog shows, weddings, food fayres, bbq’s and many more.

It’s a lovely pub with a brilliant chef, the service was friendly but a bit clumsy, I asked for one of the starters which she came back and told me they had run out of, then I asked for an alternative and the same happened. Otherwise the service was so nice and friendly. The started I ended up with was king prawn cocktail which is a favorite, but to be honest it was a poor attempt. I only counted because it looked stingy but there were 8 small prawns so they were just under £1 each. I’m not sure if it’s just the presentation but it looked and felt very disappointing. That being said, the rest of the food was delicious! Definitely recommend the Shepherds pie!!

Lovely venue and great staff / atmosphere. Good summer venue. Good venue all year round. One ask ....I only wish the menus had calorie calculations on all the food items across all the menus. I've been here many times over the years. Service is good, Staff friendly and lovely. My visit. Not that busy 7 pm on Thursday evening. Warm and seated quickly. Set mains, 2 course £16.50 and normal menus available. 2 meals with a bottle of wine and a soft drink. £51.00. Prawns for starters. Chicken Burger with fries. Nice but would have opted for salad instead of chips or rice. ( Freshly cooked) Bangers and mash. No specials menu when we Arrived. Would visit again.

Booked for the Christmas lunch menu. We arrived early but our table was ready and waiting for us. Staff were attentive and friendly, food was delicious. A lovely christmas meal to start off the festivities.

Been going here on and off over the last 45+ years. Good selection of real ale and wine. Not the cheapest but not too bad prices. Really friendly staff and although a limited bar area it's comfortable and nicely presented.

Met some friends for Sunday dinner. Pub seemed lovely and so was really looking forward to it. Ended up being really disappointed. Our order was taken then 2 other waitresses asked for our order. I had the duo and chose beef and chicken. The chicken was a thigh which I wouldn’t have picked if I had known. The beef was so fatty and chewy I left 3/4 of it. There was barely any veg or mash and the veg was over cooked. The parsnips were shrivelled to nothing. We got cauliflower cheese even though we didn’t order so had to ask for it to be removed from the bill. The only nice bit was the Yorkshire pudding. Such a shame as they really could do well here. Also it was £16.50 which is so expensive and the portion was small! Not going to come here again.
