Very close to the town centre, the pub was bought from Marstons by three locals in 2015 and their interest and passion for it is transforming it into a popular local with a range of seven real ales, including some from local breweries. It has active darts and dominoes teams and a pool table in the large single lounge bar where there's also occasional live entertainment. For the peckish, cobs, pork pies and ploughman's lunches are available.
Beer is always kept to a high standard... good atmosphere...always enjoy a beer in The Lion .... good Jukebox...
Reasonable back street boozer. Beer well kept. Only concern, I put a record on the jukebox, about a minute into the track the landlord rejected it for, presumably, one of his.
Always a friendly welcome at the bar. Nice little beer garden out back and if you catch a good day, you may even get a bit of free entertainment out back with guitarist and the legend that is Bunter on the drum box.
I know this pub well, always a friendly atmosphere and welcoming. Beer is spot on. The landlord is a very good friend and very good for a laugh. Take care Neil.
