Disappointed with the Service at this Small Hotel. Arrived for Lunch and a Drink on a Saturday Lunchtime - only to be told, along with others that a 45min. wait for any food ( including a plate of Soup ) was necessary as they had a Booked Party to cater for ! - Even a request for a drink at the Bar was answered with ‘ someone will attend if you sit down and wait ‘. - It’s a long drive to this Solitary Hotel and on a Saturday, when Couples and Families make a special effort to get there - would it be so difficult to get extra Staff in to cover an Event. Food used to be good here too - but mediocre now and nothing to even mention. Soup bland with loads of pepper . Will give this establishment a Swerve next time !
We stayed in one of their log cabins with a hot tub. Beautiful surroundings and fabulous walks from the door. The hotel has lovely bars and excellent food in the restaurant.
Can't rate rooms as never stayed in one. Hotel is lovely. Nipped in for coffee, bar area is beautiful with a real log fire. Views are outstanding
Visited for a friend's wedding, and this hotel is perfect. Absolutely stunning location, the Clova Kirk is picture postcard perfect and a minute's walk away. We stayed in one of the steading rooms and it was large, well appointed and very comfortable. The food is excellent, I hope the chef is very happy there, because that level of food would be welcome in an Edinburgh restaurant.
We stayed in one of the steading rooms that are 50 yards behind the main hotel building. The family room we had (Cairn) was spacious, modern and had a huge shower room. Just great. Hotel staff were brilliant. Technical Note: the fire seals on all the heavy doors were very tight, it was difficult to close them without making a bit of noise - tricky one. We were there for a wedding function - what a good job they did. The location is just fabulous.
