About us

We are a small pub with a tiny kitchen, sometimes there can be a wait for food but it’s always worth it.

We only take bookings for four people or more, up to 8 guests and one table per group. Larger groups please email to discuss, we sadly cannot accommodate larger groups on a Sunday.

If the time you want isn’t offered as an option it is because we are fully booked at that time, the booking app will show you the tables we have available for that date, if the date you require isn’t shown it is because we are sadly fully booked.

Known as The Bangers and Mash Pub all of our Sausages are sourced locally, changing seasonally. We aim to have a range of Pork options plus unique meat offers such as Venison & Moroccan Lamb. Our Veggie & Vegan options are mostly made in-house, with our Garlic Herb & Mushroom being one of the most popular. To accompany, the largest range flavours of mash & gravy in the city, included our famous Guinness Gravy! Gluten free options always available.

Sundays: Voted Best Roast at the 2023 and 2018, Best Local 2022 at The Restaurants Brighton annual Bravo awards.

If it's not food you're after we serve a great selection of local ales, expertly sourced wines and a selection of craft beers. We pride ourselves on our friendly atmosphere, always good music, happy staff and lovely locals. We truly love what we do and we are thrilled to be a firm favourite at the heart of the Hanover community.

Amazing range of sausage and mash - I had veggie sausages and they were utterly delicious. Good vegan options too. Friendly courteous staff and nice atmosphere. It was a Friday night and busy so book I'd say book you're a big party.

Visited the Geese on Sunday afternoon to have their “award winning roast “ and my honest opinion is that the roast is far from “award winning “. Long wait for a table however we were looking forward to the meal. The beef was decent portion but undercooked and chewy the gravy was runny with bits floating ,the red cabbage was cold probably forgot to heat it up in the microwave and the Yorkshire pudding was absolutely mediocre. The roasties were delicious I will give you my compliments for that. I myself am a chef and I wouldn’t serve this plate to a guest. Just advise to the chef if you are claiming that you are serving “award winning roast dinner “ make sure you know how to cook it.

One of the best Bangers & Mash I had in England. It's a bit out of the was but definitely worth it! You have a great selection of different sausages (incl. vegeterian and vegan options), mash potatoes and gravy. I went for the Pork&Chilli ones which had a good amount of spice. The interior is really nice and cozy with a little fire place and classic decoration on the tables. The barman was super friendly and helpful (also quite easy on the eyes - if that is of importance to you). Would come back to Brighton just for this!

Wow! Beautiful pub above the city, with great atmosphere. We had a lovely waiter (blonde with dreadlocks), who was really helpful and friendly. There were two vegan roast dinner options (vegetable Wellington or vegan sausages), and we had one of each. Both absolutely delicious! One of the best roasts I have had. Would thoroughly recommend! Both desserts were vegan, but sadly we had no space

Nice little quaint pub, I would recommend either going early or reserving a slot. Go for the Sunday roast, I went for the pork belly and it was quite good. Just be prepared to be in a food coma afterwards Also quite a refreshing homemade lemonade with gin was a nice surprise. I would recommend trying this pub!
