We’re a pub in Bulmer Tye just outside Sudbury. We’re part of the independently owned Gusto Pronto family and are passionate about great food, drinks and hospitality.

We focus on quality, seasonal produce sourced locally where possible and our team focus on creating great quality, interesting dishes from scratch. We can do half portions of most of our dishes for children.
We brew our own beer at our craft brewery, Brewshed, just outside Bury St Edmunds. We’re obsessed with finding wines we love that we can list at great value to you. If coffee’s your thing, we work with Crude Drinks who roast our coffee in Bury St Edmunds.

Food was amazing, well cooked and piping hot. Generous portions. I have only given 3 stars for atmosphere as it was very quiet on the night I dined. Also dogs ate allowed which I am not fond of but it won't stop me going back.
Place was fairly empty but to be expected on a Thursday night in January. Went for the Ribeye from the steak menu which was well cooked and had good flavour. Found it to be slightly on the expensive side for what you get but could tell the meat was good quality. Service was good. I can imagine there is more atmosphere on a busy friday or Saturday night. Overall not a bad place to visit for a meal.
This is is a very tired pub. The lighting made the décor very bland. Everything looked yellowed and very uninviting. Still lets review the food and drinks. The lemon in the G&T was old and brown. In my view it should have not been used. The beer was good (my friends opinion). I ordered the beef stew and dumplings which turned out to be my mistake. It lacked flavour and meat. When you are paying 18 pound for a serving it needs to be better than presented. The dumplings were not light and fluffy and blended in with the gravy. A few sprigs of thyme were thrown on for garnish but did little to enhance the look. My companions had the fish and chips which had a good looking batter on the fish. The other diner had the vegetarian curry which may have been the best choice as it was presented well and smelled appetising. This was a one off visit for me and sadly not a pub that I would want to revisit. Luckily for me the company was exceptional.
Came in today after not being able to get a table elsewhere (forgot to book 😫) after a quick phonecall to the fox they allocated us a table very quickly. After not knowing either of the lagers I followed the waitresses suggestion, ended up being one of the nicest pints of beer I've had. Me and my other half both ordered roast sirloin of beef; the meal was incredible. The beef tender and also slightly pink, very soft to cut. Carrots full of flavour although couldn't put my finger on whether cooked in honey or stock. Gravy lovely too with a strong beef flavour, green veg leeks and cabbage, a beautiful big Yorkie and toasties were crispy but soft in the middle. Can't fault any of the experience and would happily go again. Just wish I could of eaten more! Bill for two pints of lager and 2 roasts (£51.00) Liam
Came here with my family on Sunday for a 3 course set Christmas meal and they got it spot on. The service was great, drink orders taken quickly and there was no long waits between courses and never waited with a dirty plate in-front of us, but it wasn’t rushed! The food really surprised us all, it was all delicious, there were no complaints at all and the portion sizes were great. Drinks were kept topped up and all the staff were friendly. I wish we lived nearer or this might of been our new local! would recommend :) thanks for making our family Christmas meal absolutely amazing 🤩
