Me, the wife and our very friendly Labrador went out of our way, walking through several fields in the dark of winter to visit what looked like a cosy countryside inn: we were after a couple of early evening ales. We liked the look of the place and thought we were onto a winner, only to find a large sign on the entrance stating NO DOGS. We found this bizarre for a pub called the fox and HOUNDS which is in such a rural location. The place looks old world and a bit tired so can’t imagine this was anything to do with looking after the carpets or furniture. I can only presume that the owners don’t like dogs. Anyways, that’s as far as my review goes. One star for being completely out of sync with it’s location and surroundings, and for the wasted walk we had trying to give the place some much needed business (it was empty).
Cosy fire, superb food, great beer, talented bar manager. Fantastic prices. Sunday lunch bloody gorgeous!! Venison was perfect also. Super friendly, recommend in a heartbeat!
Lovely food at very reasonable prices. Open fires, cosy and friendly. Note: dogs not allowed
Great little country pub- food amazing. Able to accommodate child options too! Steak pie was really TASTY!
Brilliant. Just arrived for a week in the area and this gem is 5 minutes walk from our cottage. Just what you want from a proper country pub. Cosy fire, good beer, friendly atmosphere and excellent service and good to find someone who actually knows how to pull a proper pint (which appears to be something of a dying art these days)!
