Visited for lunch this Saturday, waited over an hour for our food, several people who came in after us got their food before us, which was a bit irritating. We asked for two of the small plates to be served as starters, and they came out with the main meal. I had the venison curry, which was absolutely delicious, but everything was cold, which put a dampner on it. It was served in a cast iron skillet, which could have easily been put in the oven and kept at least the curry warm even if the naan bread and rice were cold. My partner had the burger, The chips were fantastic, but the burger was also cold and overcooked. I hope these are just teething problems as the place has so much potential. Having visited Arthers quite a few times, which was always amazing, I had high hopes and it just didn't hit the mark. Hopefully these things get ironed out soon before people loose faith in the place. Will vist again in a few months and see if it's improved!

Visited a couple of weekends ago for birthday family meal of 4.. been before for lunch so suggested here for an evening meal, disappointed. Food was good but waiting time and general service was awful. Left waiting for our drinks to be ordered for 30 mins, never asked if our food was ok, had to ask for cutlery and condiments.. never asked for drink refill, table full of used plates for ages.. such a shame as we loved Arthur’s previously. Toilets need improvement also, cold and not the best standard of cleanliness. Restaurant felt cool, no music or atmosphere. Very disappointing.

Food was excellent , however the service was dire. We waited ages for the meal to come , however when it arrived it was very delicious , so we decided to have a dessert, we waited and waited after half an hour we gave up and walked over to the bar to pay the bill where tge waitress was eating a bag of crisps,! We thought it was because of it being busy in the other side of the bar but it was virtually empty. Doubtful if we'd return , which is a great shame .

A real shame, this place does have potential. I really wanted to like The Fox and I tried to, but it was just lacking, and left a lot to be desired. I have followed Arthur's on Instagram for a while now and have always wanted to go but just never got round to it. When I saw that they had acquired The Fox, I followed their page too. I saw the mexican night advertised, I was free, and thought it would be a good opportunity to try the place out. Before the details, the food was mostly nice, there wasn't anything hugely wrong with it, and I think that part of the disappointment stems from the high expectations I had for the place. We arrived on time and were seated promptly, and within 5 minutes the nachos came out. A pleasant selection of dips: cheese sauce, a pico de Gallo and a guacamole. All average unfortunately, tasted nice, but nothing special. The guacamole could have done with a bit more lime, coriander and onion in it, something just to take it to the next level. I was also expecting something a bit more special than what appeared to be microwaved Tesco finest tortilla chips with some chipotle seasoning and lime zest sprinkled over the top. Again, they tasted fine, but nothing special. It was only mid way through eating the tortillas that we were asked what drink we wanted. I know it's small, but it would have been nice to be asked about a drink prior to food coming out. We also selected which tacos we wanted at this point. The taco plates were presented nicely, below a summary of each item. Chicken- delicious, best thing about the whole meal, tender and flavoured perfectly. Short rib- nice, tender, fairly flavoured. Minced onion- poor, it tasted like it had been sat in a damp cupboard for a few weeks, unfortunately not that crisp onion flavour that you'd expect. Pickled onion- nice. Lime crema- weak and unfortunately no kick to it, would rather plain sour cream. Salsa verde- well made and a nice addition. Tacos- warm and soft, and worked well. Onto the dessert, which was a chipotle chocolate tart. What a great idea, and could really be something brilliant, it unfortunately just didn't hit the spot, and to add salt to the wound, they were out of the sorbet which was meant to accompany it. It's unfortunate because I would have thought, that for a night with a set menu and bookings only, a sufficient amount of dessert would be prepared for all guests. Back to the tart, it just lacked a punch. The pastry was thin and not well formed, the tart was slightly grainy, and it just tasted like a mediocre chocolate tart with some chipotle seasoning sprinkled in it. I really do think the whole experience was a real shame, I really wanted to enjoy it, but at a cost of £35 a head, I was expecting a whole lot more. I am hoping that this was a one off. There just doesn't seem to be any love or care put into the food. A lack of creativity put into the presentation, and the hospitality was very slightly lacking. I get that the place is a pub (the state of the toilets is a stark reminder of this) and not a fine dining restaurant at the end of the day, however I think that this is what it is being marketed as. Again, more love, thought, and care needs to be put into this place and it could be something amazing. I hope my comments aren't taken as me just criticizing the place and moaning, I hope they are taken on board. I didn't bother saying anything whilst I was there, as it wasn't worth the discussion at the time, however in retrospect I felt it necessary to write this review. I'd be happy to talk further if you want. Thanks.

First time in years we’ve been here! Wow! What have we been missing? 5 stars in every way! Where to start?… •Walking in we were greeted by a very friendly young lady, who was attentive, friendly, courteous and just so good at her job! •The decor was beautiful and the Christmas decorations were perfect 🤩 •A cosy wood burning stove added to the ambiance 🔥 •The food was absolutely perfect, there were 5 of us ordering from the extensive Christmas menu, belly pork, Katsu curry, fish and chips, plus starters and desserts! All tasty and cooked perfectly! •We were able to order extra drinks from our table without being made to feel it was too much trouble for the bar lady! •We had one adult and 2 young children tag along with us, just for a drink and a bag of crisp! They were all happily accommodated, even though they were not booked in! We will definitely be back, many times in the future! Thank you to all at The Fox and Hounds for restoring our faith in village pubs!
