About us

Formerly known as The Albert and The Mallard, it is the town's oldest pub building, dating back to the early 1600s.

Unique in the area, The Flying Duck incorporates it's own brewing facility with the new Wharfedale Brewery located in the barns to the rear. The pub retains many of it's original features, including stone floors, beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls and real fireplaces. Between the pub and the brewery is a decked garden area.

We serve nine cask real ales, real ciders and continental lagers, bottled beers from around the world and an extensive range of fine wines and spirits.

Popped in for a quick pint. Decent beer selection, both keg and cask. Not too pricey. Nice space with tables for a group of eight. Would definitely add it to my list for a longer visit in future.

21 lines of beer and cider and then plenty of bottles to choose from. Very friendly staff. Had the IPA and the Citra and both were brilliant. Also got the Spicy Lamb Special pizza which was superb. The best places are dog friendly 🐕

Built in 1709, what is now the Flying Duck is one of the oldest commercial buildings in Ilkley and grade II listed. It's been many shops in It's history including a dairy, a shoe makers and a sweet shop. It's currently one of the finest pubs in Wharfedale and offers a wide selection of beer's, delicious food, live entertainment and a very relaxed atmosphere. Two of It's most striking architectural features are the original oak joists and the stone fireplace. The pub has two floors, outside seating and it's also dog friendly. To anyone who loves a traditional and earthy pub with an interesting history then this is definatly a place to visit.

A most historic and welcoming establishment. A very good selection of beers and ciders on offer. The Hetton pale ale and the rather stronger Wharfedale IPA... If I recall the name correctly... Were wonderful and served perfectly. A most hospitable establishment both in staff and customers. Very clean and tidy throughout. We didn't try the food but the menu was appealing and we certainly will sample it on our next visit.
