On a cold winters night it was a real pleasure to call into The Five Horseshoes for a wonderful dinner. I have been here a couple of times and am never disappointed as the staff are always very cheerful and welcoming. We were seated at our table and served by Ellie, who was very attentive and pleasant, making sure we had drinks whenever we were getting low and ensuring our order was correct. I had Steak and ale pie and my wife had the Cod. Both were cooked to perfection and compliments to the chef for this. I would recommend calling into this restaurant if you are ever in the Hertford area.
Decent pub food . I ended up here for lunch with a disabled friend. The place was very busy, possibly because several other pubs nearby were not serving food! This meant that the staff were very busy and service was a bit slow. But they really made an effort and were very accommodating to my friend's needs. The chicken and ham pie that I had was excellent and generously sized, and served with plenty of chips and veg. My friend's fish and chips looked very good too, and he was very satisfied.
An impromptu visit after finishing a cold, wet walk around the area. What a lovely pub - super staff, so welcoming and accommodating, delicious food at very reasonable prices and a warm, cosy atmosphere with the Christmas vibe. Thank you for a welcome stop over. Forgot to take photos of the food - too busy tucking in!
Stopped here on our journey to Bath for a weekend break. Not disappointed at all, food was outstanding, well cooked, and beautifully presented
The staff was very nice and welcoming. I liked the main, sirloin steak medium rare. However, it was a bit chewy. And I wasn't a fan of the peppercorn sauce with sauteed mushrooms that came with the steak. I also tried the fried squid and wasn't a fan, it was quite tasteless. I'd give the food overall a 6.5/10 The service was 10/10 and would try something else next time.
