Absolutely DISGUSTING man running this pub! Myself, my friend and our children popped in around 8pm to simply ask a question about an event we had planned for the weekend there, to be greeted with the most arrogant man I have ever come across. The second the door opened and our children walked in he was charging towards us with the most vile attitude, I said oh sorry are the kids not allowed in, he said in such a rude tone ‘well no it’s a pub not a youth club and told our children to get out. They were scared and ran out of the pub. I then said do you work here to which he replied in the most smug, rude way ‘I AM THE OWNER’ and laughed. I proceeded to say we were just here to ask a question about the catering for the upcoming event. I kindly asked if we would be allowed to bring cooked food in slow cookers to keep warm to which he again in the rudest way said ‘no’. His body language and tone was absolutely unbelievable. We were all gobsmacked, even our children. I have never in my life been spoken to with such disrespect, the way he was looking down on us, smugly laughing and smirking whilst treating us like we were nothing. No wonder this pub has barely any custom, only close locals. He clearly treats anyone who isn’t a local like utter filth. My friend and i were so disgusted we left and will never be returning. ZERO STARS!!!! But unfortunately the minimum stars I can select is 1. Such a shame that a beautiful pub like that which could have so much potential is run by such an arrogant vile disgusting man! Avoid at all costs!!!

Absolutely shocked beyond belief at the utter arrogance from the "pub owner". Planned a small get together party in the pub for the weekend, appeared friendly through messages to start with and helpful, offered us the back room. We then called in tonight on passing to sort a plan out with then and ask some questions of what we can and cannot do for the party to be met with a toxic male with severely rude manners. First of all was shooing our kids out the door. OK fair enough pubs in the UK allow kids in pubs til 9pm, it was 8.15pm.. could have kindly said "unfortunately no kids allowed at this time, sorry" not trying to shoo them out the door and tell us rudely it's not a youth club, it's a pub. So we proceeded to say we didn't want to come in we just wanted to ask a question. For him then to say you're not allowed to vape in here, which nobody was doing it was just in our hand which we stated we wasn't doing. We asked if he worked here to then laugh and said "I own the place", also said very rudely and smug. So we proceeded to say we have a question, then to get the blunt reply of right. Continued with saying "we've booked with you to have a back room for this Saturday...." before we even continued "and?" Along with terrible body language, attitude upon his face. So we continued to say about bringing food which he said we could do we asked if could bring a slow cooker and his response was a smug "no." And walked off.. Now that was the reason we went to ask, as we didn't know if we could due to pat testing that's why we wanted to check. Doesn't cost a thing to be kind and have manners. Appalled at the customer service from the person who actually owns this pub. Disgusted isn't even the word. No wonder this pub is dead 24/7. Could be a really good pub this as well if the ownership changed over. Lovely looking pub, terrible landlord. Now you've lost out on easily over £500, that could have been made behind the bar that night. Custom taken elsewhere with amazing landlords instead.

The front of the building is very imposing. Inside has been transformed in a sympathetic way to maintain the historic aspects of the building. As you sit down. There are bell presses located around, unfortunately you still have to go to the bar to get a beer. The beers on offer, include the usual splattering of lagers. But also have a couple of real whales that were in good. We visited with a view to moving to the area. And the local pubs, this was a ace! To the rear of the pub is interesting view up the valley. Although not moving to the area now. I will endeavour to visit this place again.

Friendly local pub. Big beer garden with great views and car parking. Three regularly changing guest ales available. Cash only, does not serve food.
