About us

The Ffostrasol Arms is a homely, traditional pub near Llandysul in rural Ceredigion. Arthur & Betty have created a warm, friendly atmosphere, welcoming locals & visitors alike. We also cater for functions, from weddings & large parties to day trips & conferences, often held in our spacious conservatory.

We have a range of meals to suit all tastes. All food is cooked fresh to order, therefore we apologise for any wait during busy times. We use local suppliers where possible. Children's menus are available on request.

Relax by the roaring open fire in the winter & enjoy the outdoor seating during the summer. We have two pool tables & a dart board and free Wifi is available throughout the pub. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the pub area, but not in the restaurant.

We went as part of a large coach trip. The food came out hot and very tasty and they timed it so we all ate at the same time. The waiting staff were very friendly and attentive and it felt like a family atmosphere.

Sunday Lunch here is great. Today was beef, lamb or turkey. Or all 3 (which I had to do). Lots of different veg, mash & swede mash, cauliflower cheese is nice. Service good and busy atmosphere. Thanks Kelly and the team. Highly recommended.

Had a fab Sunday lunch here today with our car club. Great choice of veg. There was plenty of food. I had turkey. The roulade for dessert was fab. Forgot the photo of veg. We had suede, mash potatoes, peas and sweetcorn, carrots and cauliflower cheese.

I was firstly off put by the 1 star hygiene rating on the door (from January 2023 inspection) which is improvement necessary for Hygienic food handling and cleanliness and condition of facilities and building and MAJOR improvement necessary on Management of food safety which is very concerning especially for an establishment of that size! Needless to say we continued and had Sunday Roast which is the only food choice for Sunday. The service was pretty quick however the meal itself was a real disappointment. I had the duo of beef and pork both of which were a tough gristly texture. The vegetables were ok but there was hardly enough for all 4 of us. The biggest disappointment though was that there is just one roast potato shoved into the Yorkshire pudding. I have had any other roast dinner out that comes with just the one but I don’t know, maybe they are a delicacy in West Wales. It’s a shame because that was the nicest part! Apple crumble for dessert which was a bit bland but good enough. Despite all this the service was good and friendly and the pub itself is quite decent inside with both old and more modern seating areas and interesting artwork too. It’s just a real shame it lets itself down on the food and hygiene element as there are other lunches around you get for the same price but much better. Hopefully this low hygiene rating kickstarts them into action but that has yet to begin!
