We are a truly classic pub which has so much history, we even feature in the Dickens novel "Great expectations". This pub is a true gem – on a sunny day, enjoy the outside area near the sea; in winter, settle down by our real fireplace in the warm and cosy pub. Whether you just fancy a drink upstairs in the "Drifters Bar" where pool and darts can be played or would like a meal in our downstairs restaurant area, we cater for everyone.

We went for lunch for my husband's birthday, we went with sister and 100 year old dad. Dad and my husband had the fish and chips, they were generous portions and apparently very good. I had the salad with chicken breast which was delicious, my sister had the chicken, bacon and avocado sandwich. Again, our portions were generous. The service was good and the beer kept well. They gave a good selection of non alcoholic beverages too. I would definitely recommend. It's a beautiful old pub with a nice atmosphere and helpful and friendly staff.
Hired their function room for my brothers wake, very nice service and went back on another day to check out their food with the family. Brilliant prices for the quality of food. Steve served us who was an absolute legend. We came back a third time for food and he remembered all our drink orders so never had to tell him our drink orders. And the food was actually fantastic Nice one chef. Nice family atmosphere. Not too busy and free parking outside and kids can come and stay at any time
Attended a wake at the Lobster Smack today. All of our requests were met, the tables were all laid with tablecloths and flowers and a condolence table arranged with candles. The staff were lovely and accommodating and the food was amazing 👏. Would definitely recommend for special occasions
Great family pub to come to enjoy your lunch with family, friends and your four legged friends. They have specially designed menus for dogs there too! Very relaxed atmosphere with delicious food and excellent service! With gluten free and vegetarian options available at your request. Booking is advised, although, when we arrived there without booking, we were lucky to be accommodated by staff fairly quick. The car park is medium size. The Lobster Smack is located where Holehaven Creek meets the river Thames which you can visit after your meat for an energetic long walk to work out your calories. :)
Was recommended by a friend. Very nice free house with its traditional interior design with old fashion. The waitress was very nice and friendly, however it was occasionally hard to get her attention at times. Food was very nice and the quantity was a good size for either 2 or 3 course meal for £15.50 or £18.50. Had to wait over 30 mins for the dessert which was a little disappointed. Food was well presented. Good parking is available. Would recommend.
