I had heard about this pub & as we moved relatively close by a year ago thought it was time to give it a try. It is rural so you will need to drive. A car park is available & beer garden for spring/summer. Not a traditional pub in my opinion. Not somewhere you would go for a drink at the bar & conversation with friends as such. It is clearly selling itself as a gastro type place focusing on food. It was a Sunday lunchtime in January & quite busy so best to prebook. On arrival we stood at the small bar & although we were clearly noticed we were not acknowledged at all for 3 to 4 minutes. I don't mean served I mean not acknowledged at all by the person behind the bar. She was interacting with a waitress but a 'hello I'll be with you shortly' would be the minimum I'd expect. We were shown to our table which was very nice by the woodburner. Drinks order was taken & delivered quickly. We asked for a few more minutes to order. Starters were Goat cheese salad, this was fine & white bait which was a bit overcooked but OK. Mains were the roast lamb & a mixed meat roast. Both very nice & meat nicely pink. There wasn't a great atmosphere in the place & the person in charge, although very efficient, lacked any real warmth. The young waitress who served us was very smiley & charming. To us it felt more of a corporate in/out endeavour than a friendly, traditional rural pub. Would I go again ? Probably not.

Lovely little gastro pub just outside of battle. Has a nice garden to the rear and plenty of parking to the side. Inside is mainly set up for dining but if it's just a drink you want the there are smaller tables. Would visit again to tryout the food as only had a drink in this occasion.

Cosy country pub, lovely and friendly. Food and ales both excellent. Will definitely return. Good menu and plenty of specials too. Which is why I'm going back to try more. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Cosy pub, nice atmosphere, very clean, friendly staff. Good selection of food and drink. Generous portions. Would recommend coming here.

Lovely traditional pub located really in the middle of nowhere. A long winding drive, but worth the trip. There was a relaxed and warm atmosphere which was nice considering how awful the weather was outside. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The portions were decent but the quality just felt a little off. The batter on the fish was a little over done. On the whole though, a nice experience. There is large car park located just opposite the pub. It also appeared to be dog friendly as a patron did come in with a dog.
