Pub is now The Cockerel under new management from 2024. Wow! Just amazing with the kitchen being run by Patrick, the most fabulous chef! Sunday lunch was melt in your mouth. Smoked mackerel with beetroot looking so pretty on the plate and absolutely fine dining. Pork belly with all the delicious trimmings followed by ginger loaf, chantilly cream and salted caramel sauce. 3 courses for £28. An absolute bargain. Left thinking I wouldn't be able to move for a week, but actually comfortably full with rosy cheeks! So pleased the pub has had an overhaul, ambience, service and food was amazing. Well done the new management. 👏 9

Popped in on a Saturday. Small but well thought menu. Mum opted for the sausages and mash and I had the trout fishcake and had a side of chips Lovely coffee and a shared ginger cake. Friendly locals and staff. Lovely real fire. Will return ( might be best to book) Also note it is changing its name to The Cockeral (new beginnings)

It would be to easy to say this was the best roast dinner I've ever had but.......it simply was. (My nan will hate me for saying this) absolutely delicious, from the welcome to the service, the drinks and the important bit, the food. Amazing. We will return!

From the location, to the food, to the staff… absolutely exceptional! The best cooked burger I’ve had in Scotland by far! The patty was perfectly seasoned & perfectly cooked. The staff were so so friendly & easy to have a laugh with. We did have an issue with one of our meals but that’s bound to happen with how busy they were, they resolved it instantly without a fuss! Such a homely feel for a pub that’s haunted! Do yourselves a favour and get a feed if you’re in the area, you won’t be disappointed.
