About us

We have a tremendous real ale offering with up to six hand pulls dedicated to beers from our own Hexhamshire Brewery, including Shire Bitter, Whapweasel, Devil’s Water and Devil’s Elbow. You might even be served by the brewer himself.

Two hand pulls are dedicated to draft cider, usually Old Rosie and a guest cider.

We have an outstanding range of wine supplied by Corney & Barrow one of the longest established Independent Wine Merchants in the UK. We have aimed to provide a wine list of over 15 wines that represents outstanding quality and value. Whether it is red, white, rose, or sparkling we offer fine wine, timeless classics, and the very best in easy-drinking at sensible prices. Sold by the glass and by the bottle.

To complement our range of fine ales we also serve a wide range of home made meals, salads and sandwiches all prepared to order, in our own kitchen.

What a lovely little find! Excellent food and some great beers we'd not come across previously that are brewed on site. Looking forward already to our next visit!

Excellent food and lovely beer. We were enjoying both until a crowd of locals came in. The night went downhill instantly from that moment. The locals are extremely cliquey, rude and like to "crowd out" anyone not local. One of them stood right on top of me with her backside in my face when I was in the middle of eating. I had to move seats to get away from her. My other half said "excuse me" twice when going to the bar and the loo, but was completely ignored both times. Had the locals being less cliquey, we would have liked to have stayed for a few more drinks. However, because we felt so unwelcome, we left after just the one drink. P.S. the curry is no longer on the menu, but the website hasn't been updated to reflect this.

Lovely traditional pub offers a warm welcome, friendly locals and proper homemade food. Their are fires to keep you cozy in winter and a pub garden for summer, good for all seasons! I had the steak pie, fruit crumble and a couple glasses of wine 👌🏼 We had a little walk around the pub and saw deer in a field. There is a nice little river walk too. Tip Dog friendly They have a website where you can check the daily menu It’s worth reserve a table, especially when they have themed nights such as quiz and curry.

An pub that brews its own ale, in possibly the most picturesque setting. Nice selection of beers, nice friendly staff, stunning beer garden. A little off the beaten track, but well worth a visit.
