Not normally one to complain but unfortunately I felt robbed after leaving here. Had the frickle starter which were 4 pieces of fried gherkin and chicken strippers (x2 pieces of chicken). They were £7 and £8. Then I had the beef main which consisted of 4 roast potatoes 2 thin pieces of beef, a spoonful of veg and a Yorkshire pudding. It’s clear they have tried to bulk out the plate with the small pan of gravy, but costing £19.50 I felt this was a joke. Especially as everywhere priced the same will at least have stuffing, carrots, parsnips and mash etc. when telling staff they didn’t seem too bothered and the venue wasn’t very busy at all. I mentioned all of this during the check back to which nothing was done. It was also mentioned at the end upon plates being cleared and again nothing was done. I got up to let someone else know and explained I didn’t want money off the bill but merely some acknowledgment of the sub-par food. We did receive 25% off only the mains courses on our bill however, even at this it seemed pricey for what was actually received. Apparently they are under new management which explains a lot as when I have been prior during the week, the food was brilliant. Such a shame and won’t be back.

Perfect place for a pitstop for lunch or meal whenever in the area. Post hike or just starting the day, Devonshire Arms is a treat. Their food selection is impressive. Order The Pie! It's worth the wait!

Great atmosphere. There were a few items not available in the menu which meant eating gluten free was tricky and without as many choices as I would have liked. There were some big dogs which was fine but bear in mind if you don’t like dogs. One near me was a little smelly but well behaved. Three courses and soft drinks came to around £50 per person

Walked here whilst staying at the Chatsworth caravan and motorhome campsite. Had a look around the village and popped in for Sunday lunch in September. The restaurant was fully booked so we had a table in the bar. Excellent menu with gluten free options and friendly staff but the meals were quite expensive. Good selection of beers and the food was very good. We felt that the painted tables outside looked out of character with the classy restaurant.

Good looking place and service was OK. Food was alright but Expensive for the quality. Price reflective of location. Camembert missing something as a dish, like a pickle or something fresh. Steak pie very overdone and gravy tasted/looked 'instant'. Nice wine. Ok overall
