The Devil's Stone Inn is a 17th Century former farmhouse which was converted into a coaching inn some four hundred years ago. Sitting on the edge of the village square, the pub is a beamed, flagstone-floored building with several open fireplaces.
We aim to serve good, freshly cooked food and well-conditioned beer in a friendly atmosphere.
There is a large garden, games room and separate dining room. Upstairs are eight recently renovated letting rooms (six doubles and two singles), simply decorated with stripped wood floors and white bed linen. All rooms have a private bath or shower room and tea and coffee making facilities. The inn is said to be attached to the church by a hidden tunnel and is reputed to be one of the twelve most haunted pubs in Britain.
Had a lovely evening meal of the venison pie and the Ploughman's, the food was of a high standard and there was a very relaxing atmosphere with a roaring fire
Beautiful cosy pub! Very dog friendly great atmosphere. Super welcoming to large and small groups even got great vegan options!
Good food and lovely friendly service. We had beef brisket chili, lamb burger and the pie of the day. Really enjoyed it. 'Local' pub atmosphere - but in no way feels like it's 'just for locals', very welcoming. Would happily come back for a meal and a drink!
Great local pub. Top notch ale and food. We had an unexpected stop over and the landlady very kindly fed our hounds as we'd no food and the local shops were shut. Not only that, she made sure we left with breakfast for them too. You don't get this kind of service in most boozers. We were chuffed and the dogs gave a round of ap-paws. Sorry.
Great traditional pub with restaurant and accommodation. Eat here on a Monday evening in June. It was quite busy for a Monday which shows it’s popularity. Good value traditional pub menu with locally sourced ingredients are served in the bar, garden or restaurant. The food is cooked well and excellently presented. Dog friendly. Would definitely recommend.
