About us

The Jolly Farmer was born in the late nineties from the Gorsey Brigg and retains much of the artificial rustic character it was given then. Different levels and alcoves give this large pub a very intimate feel. What was once-upon-a-time an estate pub nearing closure has managed to reinvent itself and maintain the change since its refit around a decade ago.

The pub provides an ever changing supply of guest ales to complement its well kept house bitters and a range of bottled beers. The ales are served in front of the exposed cellar, so you can see the racked casks. A fantastic alehouse with plenty else on offer and a popular menu.

The menu is constantly revamped but you can always guarantee it contains a range of chargrilled steaks and traditional pub favourites. The two meals for £12 menu is very popular amongst the locals while customers will travel from a far for the steaks and sizzlers

The interior is cosy and clean with a good traditional feel, authentic and atmospheric.

The owner of this restaurant verbally abused an 88 year old woman because she paid for her food but dared to say the peas were cold. This woman is my nan and he told her to shut up before she got a chance to even talk whilst telling her she’s barred for not liking the food. I reiterate she is 88, frail and overall she was scared of this man. This woman never complains and still happily paid for her meal. Never asked for her money back once. I find this absolutely appalling that this man would shout and intimidate a group of elderly women on their own, seems like some kind of sick power trip. Clearly should not be arround people especially vulnerable ones. My nan would eat her monthly with her friends, this often being her only social interaction with her friends and has never complained once, he has petrified her.

Service was very professional and was only surpassed by the food. With food this good you don't need to ask how much it is. Many thanks.

Went there for a Sunday lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it, I didn't go traditional but chose the Mexican option, The service was excellent and the food piping hot, Staff were polite and attentive. Would definitely go again.
