Wonderful pub 1 minute walk from Lyric Square. Superb seasonal menu, Real Ales on tap and a global wine list. Fantastic garden perfect for a long lunch, drink after work or a weekend meal. Upstairs space available for functions.
The Dartmouth Castle is very much a place to relax in, serving a good range of refreshments and plates of very appealing food. It's a child-free zone after 7pm too, adding to its appeal for those seeking a quiet evening pint. Sambrook's have not been brewing long, but have made their mark with ales such as Wandle; or you may come across Twickenham's Naked Ladies, from a brewery just a few years older. Alternatives are Cornish Orchards cider and Sierra Nevada Pale Ale amidst a generous choice of cosmopolitan bottled ciders, beers and lagers; more than a dozen wines are sold by the glass. From the menu, expect imaginative flavours in starters such as grilled chorizo and king prawn skewers with chicory, avocado salad and shallot vinaigrette; or smoked duck breast with celeriac remoulade, prosciutto and creme fraiche. Move on to a main course of grilled Italian sausages, and finish with affogato.
