We visited with my sister and our cousin who is in her 80's, she wanted to get out as she lives on her own nearby and enjoys visiting the Cwm Talwg to socialise. We booked on the App with no problem and were accommodated at the time we wanted to arrive. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and seated where my cousin wanted to sit. The manager, Martin was on his own at the bar initially but we were served very quickly despite him being busy with other customers. We ordered food from the menu which came out promptly and beautifully prepared, we all enjoyed our meals. The atmosphere in the pub was very festive with several large parties enjoying family celebrations. Everything was perfect, a lovely afternoon spent at the Cwm Talwg, Thank you Martin and your fabulous staff for going the extra mile! x
The restaurant/pub is really well presented and the staff are very friendly, welcoming and attentive. The meal itself was plentiful for the price, but unfortunately the meat let it down. My wife and myself went for the steak night option, paying an extra £1 for the Sirloin and some sides we chose separate. Both steaks were very fatty and so tough (mine especially), which was very disappointing. I’m not one to complain and as the staff were so friendly we just wanted to be polite and said our thanks. I’m sure it’s the quality of the steaks you purchase from your supplier needs questioning. Just one more point, the toilets were very clean, but extremely cold, I was warned by another guest, which was the case. Overall, it’s a lovely pub and I would like to go back, but probably wouldn’t choose a steak again.
We booked ahead but when we got there the table was not ready so we did have to wait on to different tables for 20 minutes before we could be seated. Saying that the staff were really good and informative. Once seated we were served very quickly. Food took around 45 minutes to come out but was fresh and my family enjoyed it. With the 30% off voucher it made it possible for us as a family of four to have the opportunity to go out for a rare meal while finances are tight.
It was better now that the previous landlord has finished. We haven't been there in about 4 years due to the food quality and quantity provided by the previous landlord. Great service and lovely food. Martin, the assistant manager, is running a good team. Very helpful and enjoyable. The food was poor tonight and not enjoyable at all. Better quality food this time around and very good service. Enjoyed our evening and the food was very good.
We came here as part of a group tour and the food was very generous is size and tasty. The sticky toffee pudding was very light in texture and delicious. The cider we had was very refreshing and easy to drink.
