We were aware on booking that it was a dog friendly bar, but have yet to find anywhere on the actual web site that states dog friendly rooms, as that would have had a bearing on our booking. The problem we suffered was irresponsible dog owners who left their consistently yapping dogs in their room while they disappeared into the bar, unfortunately breakfast was spoiled due to a dog owner with no control over his dog which was left to roam the restaurant begging at tables, once again no thought given for other guests. Actual rooms are in need of some TLC, on a positive side and the reason 3 star rating, the staff were great and friendly, and the full English breakfast itself was good, what a pity the stay was marred by inconsiderate, unworthy dog owners.
I want to express my gratitude for the hotel's customer policy and flexibility. My train got cancelled and I couldnt arrive, and they agreed not to charge me given the circumstances. That's not what many hotels do, eg Riverside hotel in Kendal charged me not only the full amount when my train got cancelled, but the whole period of my stay without letting me to stay the next days. So, that's a huge contrast. The location is also superb, a few minute walk from the Oxenholme train station.
Steve, Aj, Sam and Jeanette have been the most amazing hosts and hostesses with the mostest! Myself and my girlfriend were only stopping in for a drink to avoid the rain! However the warm welcome and hospitality was so warming and lovely we decided to book a room for the night! The room was an absolute delight and we both love it! Very clean and classic theme (love a beam in the ceiling) and the food was to die for! I devoured the duck whilst my beloved thoroughly enjoyed her lamb dinner! 10/10 highly recommend for both food and to stay! What a place! 🏆
It was just so nice and quiet the room was amazing. The food in the restaurant was out of this world. The staff were very friendly and very helpful. Lovely base to explore the lakes from. Cannot wait to visit again
