As the first stop on Wainwrights famous coast to coast walk we welcome walkers and cyclists and are very family friendly, as Cumbria has more dogs per head of population than anywhere else in the UK we not only welcome dogs we actively encourage you to bring your dog with you. Dogs are welcome in all areas our Inn (except of course our kitchens). They are even welcome in any of our three bedrooms if you are spending the night with us.
Excellent food and plenty of it it a warm cosy pub with great atmosphere . Very good value. Highly recommend
Popped in for a quick sandwich & a beer. The sandwich was fairly substantial with a side salad & tasty to boot. The beer was that good we stayed for three. Very welcoming too!
Beautiful traditional Lakeland pub, the food was homemade, the portions great & price very reasonable. The service was done with a smile & Beth our waitress for very polite & professional.
Amazing food, huge portions and very friendly staff! I had the chicken and bacon carbonara which was one of the nicest pasta dishes I’ve ever had, the garlic bread was delicious and perfectly crispy. Both elements of the dish were at the perfect temperature when served so I could dig in immediately! They have a wide range of options on the dessert menu all with a choice of cream, custard or ice cream. I decided on the sticky toffee pudding and yet again the portion size was huge, it was perfectly sticky and not overly sweet. Overall 100% recommend, it’s my new favourite dinner spot!
We have just spent a week in the area and fortunate enough to come across this little gem of a pub. We ate here 4 times and every meal was top notch, and portions were very generous. What amazing food and friendly staff, best sunday roast lamb in years!!
